Smart Sensors

Our advanced, scalable sensors unobtrusively monitor activity and behaviors to enhance features like fall detection or wander management for elopement risk residents. Receive automatic, customizable alerts and gather data to identify potential issues and address changing care needs.

Wireless, Long Lasting Sensors

Most of our smart sensors are wireless, long-lasting, battery powered devices that all connect to our wireless, encrypted Rythmos® mesh network for centralized data and alerts through our CM web portal and mobile app.

Enhance Fall Detection for At-Risk Seniors

Our machine learning (ML) based fall detection unobtrusively monitors for changes in activity, movement, behavior and sends automatic alerts to staff, no button push required. Fall detection can be further enhanced through various sensors placed in the home or senior residence.

Customizable Wander Management Solutions

Wander management settings provide added protection for seniors at risk of eloping with immediate notifications, advanced sensors, and access control compatible devices all with customizable settings depending on resident risk level.

Unobtrusive Activity Data & Insights

With improved communication tools, faster response times, contact tracing, and access to real-time and historic community data, the Kallos wearable can better protect seniors while reducing liability for staff and owners through transparent and accurate data.

Presence Sensor

This is a wireless, battery powered sensor that detects motion and scans for nearby resident wearables when motion is detected.

Common Uses:

  • Automated check-ins when placed in resident apartment bathroom

  • Detect trips to the bathroom at night

  • Set up keep out zones

  • Augment fall/out of bed detection

Door and Window Sensors

Detects door open, close, and state and can also scan for nearby resident wearables when the magnet and sensor contact is broken.

Common Uses:

  • Notifications for wander residents on door open

  • Alerting for doors or windows that are opened or propped during evening and night hours

  • Alerting for windows that are opened

Thermal Sensor

Thermal Sensor

Heat-based sensor to identify resident activity in the apartment unobtrusively with no camera.

Common Uses:

  • Unobtrusive activity data

  • Track time spent in/out of bed with trends over time

  • Enhanced fall monitoring

  • Room occupancy information

Radar Sensor

Long lasting, battery powered smart sensor that uses distance based measurement to augment fall detection.

Common Uses:

  • Above bed to determine in/out of bed or fall out of bed

  • Near exit doors to detect potential egress

  • Parking lot to determine space availability and use

Liquid Detection Sensor

Liquid Detection Sensor

Liquid detection for incontinence or building management. Small, battery-powered devices that can clip on to bed or be used with a cord accessory to cover larger surface areas.

Common Uses:

  • Leakage detection

  • Bed wetting

Ambient Sensor

Battery powered devices that captures ambient light (lumens) and sound (decibels) for unobtrusive monitoring and customizable alerts.

Common Uses:

  • Capture distress sounds and look for anomalies

  • Capture changes in lighting and look for anomalies

  • Functions as an infrastructure anchor, reducing the TCO while augmenting system capabilities

FAQs

No, our smart sensor solutions are customizable and scalable to meet your community or individual needs. Sensors can be places strategically based on common practices or adapted to particular use-cases for those with higher-risk or specialized health care needs.

In addition to the machine-learning capabilities our wearables have for monitoring falls, we can also utilize unobtrusive presence and thermal sensors positioned in key areas of the home (like the bedroom and bath room) to add an extra layer of protection to help detect falls.

These sensors can also provide valuable data on daily activity and movement that can indicated a health change or need for increased care (like higher frequency of turning the lights on at night or more trips to the bathroom).

Note that these sensors are battery powered, easy to manage and install, and customizable to your loved one or resident’s individual needs.

Our fall detection capabilities in our Kallos are designed so that it automatically detects changes in movements when a free fall and impact occur and will send immediate alerts for emergency response. Fall monitoring can be enhanced further through our thermal sensors, smart sensors, and presence sensors to detect movement activity (or lack of movement), behavioral patterns, ambient light or sound changes (like calls for help), and more to help detect falls and protect your loved one to get life saving help when and where they need it.

All Kallos pendants have the same integrated care features and capabilities and can be worn in either watch or necklace wear style depending on your preference.

However for those with health factors like Parkinson’s, we recommend a necklace wear style for a more accurate fall detection algorithm to detect changes in movement. Likewise for seniors who are wander risks, a watch wear style might be better if you choose to add a secure locking band to ensure the wearable (with precise location awareness both indoors and outdoors with LTE-GPS) stays on your loved one for continued assistances wherever they go.

Unlike other smart watch products, Kallos wearables last an average of 1-5 months depending on use. Active use for fall detection, 2-way audio, out of community location monitoring (LTE-GPS) and other custom settings can affect battery life.

Kallos is easily chargeable, going from 0-100% in around 2 hours. This wearable is also hot swappable, so personal data and settings can be quickly transferred from one Kallos pendant to another so residents at senior community or high-risk seniors have continuous coverage.

No! While Kallos and our Rythmos® smart sensora system are designed specifically to meet needs of residents and caregivers in senior communities, these features and key sensors will soon be available for personal and at-home use, from users that wants peace of mind or convenient integrated features to seniors with varying levels of care needs.
